Family Protocol

Roles & Communication

🛡️ Tasks
  • Proactive preparedness relies on delegated responsibility. Assign realistic, age-appropriate duties to every family member, from pet handling to utility shut-offs. Ensure each person demonstrates technical competency in their specific role before a crisis occurs. Establish a culture of readiness through monthly check-in habits and unannounced practice runs to build reliable muscle memory.
🛡️ Communication
  • Check-in procedures
  • Emergency contact list
  • Out-of-state relay point
🛡️ Meeting Points
  • Primary indoor location
  • Secondary neighborhood spot
  • Out-of-town safe zone

Scenario Drilling

Drill For Real Stability

Constant repetition transforms complex safety plans into second-nature responses. By simulating diverse scenarios beyond just home drills, your family remains calm and ready to navigate unexpected obstacles like road closures or tech failures.

  • Plan two distinct travel routes for each destination.
  • Store physical paper maps in every vehicle.
  • Backup GPS with printed turn-by-turn directions.

BEFORE

Assessment & Setup

Pinpoint regional risks and equip every member with a personal bug out bag tailored to their age and strength. Carefully calculate weight limits for each person, and integrate family walking drills while wearing gear to build necessary stamina and ensure mobility.

DURING

Execution & Comms

Head to safety zones. Use radio channels or leave notes at meeting spots if cell service fails. Follow set check-in times. Perform vital roles like utility shutoff without delay.

AFTER

Review & Replenish

Account for all members at the meeting point. Perform a functional check of all gear and supplies used. Debrief on what worked and adjust the protocol for the next drill cycle.
